Coach Vik Ohri
Coach Ohri began his lacrosse career as a goalie at Hayfield High School in Alexandria, VA. A new sport at the school in the early 90's, he was encouraged to step into the goal by fellow teammates, he gave it a shot and earned the position of starting varsity goalie. After his High School career, he moved on to play for the George Mason Lacrosse Club and stayed active playing in the Rolling Rock mens club.
At the age of nineteen, he was offered the opportunity to take over the JV program at Hayfield High School as Head Coach. By his second year, he helped to guide the JV Hawks to a 7-3 season. This is when he realized his passion for coaching lacrosse surpassed that of playing. After his second season, he was promoted to Varsity defensive coordinator.
Coaching changes forced him to leave Hayfield and landed him at Marshall High School in Mclean, VA. He stepped into a program that had not won a game in over two years. He helped to guide the Statesmen to a 6-5 record in his third year there and the first playoff appearance in school's lacrosse history. He spent seven years at Marshall before moving on to WT Woodson High School in Fairfax, VA as the JV defensive coordinator. In his first year, he helped to lead the Cavaliers to a 9-3 season.
A new job forced him to move after one year at Woodson. Coach Ohri then landed at Freedom High School in South Riding, VA where he took over as Head JV coach and Varsity Goalie Coach. In just his second season at Freedom, he was able to build a program that initially had eighteen kids on the team of forty plus kids trying out every year. He helped improve the team's record of just one win in his first season to a winning JV record of 11-2-1 his fifth and last season with the eagles.
Coach Ohri took over as head coach at John Champe in the summer of 2012 finishing the first season with a 8-1 record for the Knights at a JV level. By their second season of varsity competition he led the program to a record of 7-7 and was selected as US lacrosse coach of the year for the Dulles region. By his fifth season the knights saw playoff wins for the first time in both the 2016 and 2017 seasons, finished with 10 and 9 game win seasons, several players selected to all conference teams and was selected as John Champe Coach of the year. By 2019 the knights saw their first appearance in the district championship, regaional championship and state quarterfinals.
Coach Ravi Ohri
Ravi Ohri is currently the varsity offensive coordinator with the Champe Knights men’s lacrosse team after an accomplished career helping to re-build several local area high school programs. A former member of the Virginia Tech MCLA lacrosse program, he brings over 20 years of coaching experience to the EKLC sideline. A Midfield and Face-off specialist, teaching fundamental skills basedCoach on personal experiences and techniques learned over the past 20 years.
During the 2013 season, Ohri helped lead the first year program Champe Knights to an 8-1 record outscoring opponents by an average of 5 goals. By his fifth season he had helped guide the nights to a 9-6 season with playoff wins for the first time in school history in both the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
Prior to 2013, Ohri served as the Freedom High School JV Assistant Coach, helping lead the Eagles to a school best 11-2 record. Under his leadership the offensive made tremendous strides scoring at will on its opponents.
Prior to his time at Freedom, Ohri coached at both Marshall and Hayfield high schools helping to rebuild their varsity programs one goal at a time, eventually leading to the first ever playoff appearance by the Marshall Statesmen.
Ohri is a C.P.A and earned his M.B.A. from The George Washington University in 2006. He is an active member of the community and is currently sits as the Board Vice-Chair of Beacon House, a non-profit promoting well being of children through education, sports and mentoring. He continues to actively play lacrosse in various Men's leagues.
Coach Lefti Spyridakis
Coach Lefti played lacrosse at Freedom HS in South Riding where he was primarily a midfield specialist. He was always the fastest guy on the field with the fastest shot. He helped guide the Eagles to the state quarterfinals his senior year with the program.
Coach Lefti was recruited by many college programs and ultimately decided to continue his lacrosse career at Marymount University. He was a four year player for the Saints and due to his versatility on the field, he was give the opportunity to play almost every position to include taking face-offs, running LSM and Close D.
Lefti has been involved with EKLC from the start - first as a player and then as a Coach. He has excelled in every position he has taken on and has helped guide many of our teams to success during tournament play. As a coach, he wants nothing more than the best for all the guys he comes across, and they leave as better lacrosse players from their time spent with him.

Coach Daniel Butcher
Coach Butcher played his High School lacrosse at Broad Run HS in Asbburn where he was the team Capt. his junior and senior seasons in 2011/2012. He played midfield and was a face off specialist earning all reagion honors his senior year and placed 2nd in the national face off combine in 2012.
After High School he went on to play for NCAA Christopher Newport University. After two years as a face off specialist for CNU he transfered to Geroge Mason University and continued playing with the GMU club program where he was team president for both his years there.
Coach Butcher has had the opportunity to coach players in all the different positions with a specialization in face off guys. He was worked with the Knights / EKLC face off guys for the last two seasons and has developed them into some of the best in the area.
Coach James Beierman
Coach Beierman began his lacrosse career as an 8th grader during the West Point Army Lacrosse Camp. He developed a love for the sport right away, and being a late comer to the game he quickely pursued his interest playing in any local club and rec league he could be a part of. He ultimately graduated from Chantilly High School where he is a 2015 alumni.
After high school, Coach Beierman moved on to play for the CNU club lacrosse team. During his time there, he was vice president of the program and the 2019 Offensive Captain. His senior season with the program, he helped the program achieve an eighth place national ranking among college club programs and helped lead the team to a conference championship win and championship weekend birth, ultimately losing in the Elite 8 to Binghamton University by one goal.
Coach Beierman joined the John Champe Knights coaching staff in 2020 as a JV assistant coach. His work with the attack unit saw sudden results and by 2021, he was promoted to Head JV coach. His tireless efforts and work with the program allowed the JV Knights to attain a 6-2 record his first season as Head Coach.
Coach Beierman enjoys giving back to the game that has given him so much over the years. He truly understands what it feels like joining the sport later in life and enjoys working with guys in the same situation. He continues to play in men's field and box leagues in the NOVA area.
Coach Nolan Somer
Coach Somer began his lacrosse career in fifth grade. He started out at attack but eventually moved over to D. Due to eligibility he was able to join the Champe Knights JV team in 8th grade and earned the starting job at close D beating out kids much older than him. He played JV for 8th and 9th prior to making a very good Varsity squad as a 10th grader.
At the varsity level he had the opportunity to play both close D and LSM ultimately helping the Knights get into the State Semifinals in 2019 where he started at close D.
After HS he stayed local in the area and his desire to stay in touch with the game allowed him to get involved with the Knights program as a coach. He helped coach the 2020 JV Knights D and even though the season was cut short he knew he had a passion to help teach the future generation of lacrosse Defenders.
Coach Jeff Rutledge
Coach Jeff Rutledge began coaching lacrosse at Park View High School in 2004, serving as the Patriots defensive coordinator and goalie coach. In 2006, he moved over to Freedom High School where he helped start the boy’s lacrosse program with Coach Eric Olsen and served as the Eagle’s varsity defensive coordinator. He also was the goalie coach until 2008, when Freedom started the JV program and Coach Vik Ohri came aboard. Following the passing of Olsen in 2009, Coach Rutledge coached with current Freedom assistant athletic director Brent Miller. While at Freedom, the success of the boy’s program progressed steadily each year. In 2010, Coach Rutledge stepped away from lacrosse to spend time with his family.
In 2013, Coach Rutledge joined Coach Vik Ohri to help start up the boy’s lacrosse program at John Champe High School. During the Knights inaugural season in 2013, as defensive coordinator, Coach Rutledge helped guide the JV program to an 8-1 record, with a 2.00 GAA. The following season at the varsity level he helped lead the Knights lacrosse program to its first ever playoff appearance in its first varsity season.
Coach Rutledge took over as the head coach at Park View HS in the fall of 2015 and the Head Coach of Independence HS in the fall of 2019.
Coach Jeff Putz
Coach Putz started his playing lacrosse for Braddock Road Youth Club (BRYC) in Fairfax County. While attending George Mason University he played in the Fairfax County adult summer league with collegiate players from the Northern Virginia area.
Coach Putz started his coaching career with the Braddock Road Youth Club in 1985. After coaching at the youth level for 2 years, he transitioned to the high school game. In 1988 he was the defensive coordinator for the original Annandale High school lacrosse team and coached there for 2 years. Coach Putz then left Annandale to be the first head coach of Centreville High School lacrosse team. After building the foundation for the lacrosse program over the span of 3 years, it was time to leave to raise his own family of lacrosse players.
Coach Putz has coached boys youth lacrosse from U-9 through the U-15 age groups for Dulles South Lacrosse. He was the Boys Commissioner for Dulles South Lacrosse, Inc., with over six hundred players, where he helped to helped to raise the level of youth lacrosse program in the DS area. He is also certified as a Level 2 Men’s Lacrosse Coach by US Lacrosse.
Coach Putz took over as Head Coach of the Champe JV program in 2014 and by his fourth season had guided the knights to a 10-3 season the best in school history for the JV program. He is dedicated to giving back to the sport that has given him so many great friendships.
